Hej,
I would like to describe a situation that have happened in your store about 2 weeks ago. This incident made my friend and I take the decision of never stepping the foot back in that store again, and, over all, it gave a very bitter taste of H&M in general.
My friend and I were having a nice shopping day, checking clothes in your store, when she´ve seen an article she really liked. She tried it on and she liked it, but the article had no tag. So she checked the tag of what it looked to be the same artcle, but on different color. The original price for it was 150 krowns, but because it had a 50% discount, the new price was 75 krowns. So we took the article with us, together with our other shoppings, and after like an hour we headed towards the cash register. It was quite a long queue and we were speaking english with eachother as we are both quite new in Sweden. When we got to the cash desk, first think we did was to ask the seller to check for the price of the article which haven´t had a tag. She scanns the article and answers ”350 krowns”. When the seller from the other desk hears the lady, tells her to make sure she makes the discount. So she says to us ”175 krowns”, but my friend answeres ”Oh, no, is still too expensive. I won´t take it”. To that, the sellers replies with an very unpolite tone: ”We are not a free market here. We are not negotiating prices”. I couldn´t believe my ears. I open my eyes widly and tried to explain in swedish that we were not trying to negotiate anything, but that we believed (”vi trodde”) that the article had the same price like the one on different color, which was 75 krowns. When she hear this, she tells me that with my faith, believs, (”min tror”) I can go to the curch.
Im telling you I was in shock for like 5 seconds than I told her I find this attitude towards costumers extremly rude, to which she had reply ”you think so? well that´s your opinion”.
So i just dumped my shoppings at the counter and exist the store.
My friend still remained and payed for the other things, as she needed them. When she comes out, she tells me that the seller told her to tell me that if i think that was rude, I haven´t seen anything of her yet.
Now, I don´t even know why I took this long to write the message. Even though this happened 2,3 weeks ago, still makes me angry when I think of it.
H&M was really a brand I respected, I even wanted to apply for a job there. When you check H&M website, it looks so preofessional, with policies which claim to work FOR THE COSTUMER, so the costumer can feel welcomed, and served.
Well I can tell that what I felt that day in your store was far by that.
So I want to hear where you stand first, and maybe give me an explanation of why could have this happened, and what your solution for such an issue would be. I really want to hear where you stand in this!
I can´t help but wonder if this would have happened if we were swedish. Was this a rasism act? Is it because we weren´t speaking swedish that made her dare speaking like that to us? What was it?
I really want to hear an explanation from you. And Im hoping I will get one, otherwise I start writing to the main website, to all the biggest CEO´s I can find in Sweden. And then I put it on every H&M facebook page that I can find online, so that all the cosumers can see who do they have to deal with in Skanstull´s H&M.
This lady (who was around 50 years old, smal and skinny, bob haircut, very light blonde, wearing extremly red lipstick) is the nightmare of any costumer. Her rudness was beyond any limits and I can´t help but wondering what on earth is she doing on sales?!?! Working with people!?!
